Jesus teaches, “No one lights a lamp and puts it in a place where it will be hidden, or under a bowl. Instead he puts it on its stand, so that those who come in may see the light. Your eye is the lamp of your body. When your eyes are good, your whole body is also full of light. But when they are bad, your body also is full of darkness. See to it, then that the light within you is not darkness” ~ Luke 11:35 (NIV)
This passage is very familiar. However, do we take time to dwell upon the meaning and impact of these words spoken by Jesus?
Our eyes are the reflection of our spirits. This is very important, because….I want to challenge your with this question: Do we take the time to look into people’s eyes? I know that I fail at this very often in my relationships.
Am I alone in this?
In our upbeat, demanding society of Facebook and text messaging, we can often fail to actually look at the heart of the individual we are speaking to. Unfortunately, this can lead to major miscommunication. This then domino effects into something ugly & possibly unintentional.
I also find it interesting that the Lord then directs us to conduct a self-evaluation of the light within us. Looking into the mirror can be scary, but let’s do this so that we can learn more about ourselves. The things we learn can then be used by the Lord for our refinement OR someone’s encouragement ….well, MOST LIKELY both haha.
I leave you with this final question: Who are we to deny the Lord his power in our lives, right???
Again, this passage is extremely important. Take it to heart♥
