“Cause baby, now we’ve got bad blood
We used to be mad love
So take a look what you’ve done
Cause baby, now we’ve got bad blood, Hey!”
~Taylor Swift, Bad Blood, 1989
Alright. I can you see you now haha Stop singing out loud and put your hand down. I know you read the lyrics with passion.Your a passionate person. I am too, but now it’s time to read this like a normal person.
We’ve heard this song.
We’ve enjoyed this song.
We’ve danced to this song.
It’s catchy. We really cannot help it.
Have we critically thought about the message of this song?
See, I think it is vitally important to realize that the “bad blood” story does not end with this song.
It is a painful truth that mistakes are made within relationships, feeling like we have been back-stabbed with a very sharp knife. We are all human.
When these hurtful situations take place, we could choose to give up on the individual(s) and end all communication(s).
But the truth is…
As Christians, we are called to forgive and display our light to the world.
As Daughters of the most high king, we are directed to pray for our enemy.
As the body of Christ, we need to pick up our cross and follow Jesus’ examples.
I am very often guilty of forgetting to whom I belong. You too?
You see: Being made in the image of God, we should focus upon the Blood of Christ instead of the “Bad Blood” that has been drawn by another human. I know that it hurts. I’ve been there. It makes me an emotional wreck: However, in these moments, I want to remind you that the blood that was shed upon the cross for our transgressions – when we did not even acknowledge or realize it – is more powerful than ANYTHING.
Furthermore: Let us understand that the Almighty creator was not focused upon the “bad blood” we drew from Him in our past. He is not focused on the “bad blood” that we draw against Him presently, every single day. Instead, He focuses (as He has always focused on) on the blood that has been shed upon the cross for our redemption.
Wow. What a beautiful thing.
Lord, what is man that you should be mindful of Him??
Thank you, Jesus for shedding your Holy blood when I did not deserve it.
I want to encourage you today, if you are struggling with focusing upon the wrong blood: It is okay to feel hurt about the situation. It is not okay to do nothing about it.
Let us be the light of the world.
Let us pray for our enemy.
Let us pick up our cross and follow Jesus.
Why do all of these things when you’ve been stabbed in the back?
The “bad blood” story is awaiting to be finished<3
“But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.” ~ 1 John 1:7 (NIV)
